Draughton Village is approx 3 miles from the busy market town of Skipton and just off the A65 Ilkley Road. It was bypassed several years ago and is a lovely village and a safe place to live and bring up children. It is a popular place for walkers to set off from as there are several routes out of the village on foot and the Dalesway long distance footpath runs within a couple of miles. We are also only a couple of miles from Bolton Abbey which can be reached by footpath or road, and there is easy access into the dales with many spectacular walks nearby. Although there is no pub in the village there are several excellent local hostelries and no shortage of real ale eg Skipton's Copper Dragon Brewery is expanding rapidly with many local pubs selling their ales. Draughton is within easy reach of Harrogate, Ilkley, Otley, Settle and many other local small communities, and is commutable to Leeds, Bradford, Manchester, Harrogate & York. Rail connections are from Skipton or Ilkley, to get to Leeds via Bradford, Harrogate, or the Settle to Carlisle line. The village has an active community based around the village hall, cricket team (hopeless, but good fun), annual barbeque and various activities such as popular quiz nights. The small church has a regular congregation. Leisure facilities around are almost unlimited with the great outdoors taking precedence, but sports facilities are centred around nearby Skipton, which has a newly refurbished swimming pool. Horeseriding/trekking is available at nearby Draughton Height Farm.
